The evidence in this aspect is not so clear. There seems to be two sides to the story. There are undoubtedly still many many people who make decent money by way of selling things on EBay and actually have successful businesses on the website. EBay can be an easy way of selling large volumes of products mainly because it has a global reach (without the need of any kind of advertising!), and that is inevitably good for companies aiming to expand their customer base beyond their local area.
